All Summer’s Fun
By Daniel Skalak
Publisher Red Cygnet Press

All summer’s fun and Daniel Skalak proves it in this playful romp through a summer loaded with all the activities boys and many girls love best. From belly flops at the pool to nights spent camping in a tent with all the requisite flashlights, snacks, and ghost stories, summer is very much fun in All Summer’s Fun. Although the main character in this pack of monsterish boys sometimes fears that they’ve done just about everything fun that’s possible, he and his friends manage to keep finding more to do. It appears that as school starts they’ll manage to find fun during the school year, too. Skalak’s monsterish illustrations with each of the boys sporting tiny horns and two lower teeth jutting above their lower lips are perfect portraits of the true nature of little boys as merry little monsters just out to have fun. All Summer’s Fun is a perfect read for dispirited kids who think they’ve run out of things to do during a long hot summer. Whether it’s playing pirate or cowboy, setting up a tent in the backyard, or just playing with their food, their imaginations will be sparked and soon their summer will again be all fun.
