The Littlest Christmas Kitten
By Leona Novy Jackson
Illustrator Kelly Dupre
Publisher
Snaptail Press

Leona Novy Jackson creates her own Christmas fable centered around a little lost kitten. While mother cat is worriedly searching for one of her latest brood of kittens that has wandered off somewhere in the stable, a man and woman arrive. Mother cat finds and whisks away her kitten from the manger just before the strangers approach it. During the night baby Jesus is born. We’re told that this story of the kitten that shared a manager with the baby Jesus has been passed down from cat to cat to this day. This simple tale is told in simple language. Children will find satisfaction in reading and seeing the love of a mother for her children that is reflected by the cat with her kitten and Mary with the baby Jesus. Kelly Dupre’s illustrations expressively portray this moving tale of a mother cat searching for her missing kitten and the animals awe at the birth of Jesus.
